NHL games today: Complete TV schedule, April 1 matchups guide

NHL games today: The 2020-21 NHL season is in full swing, and things are really getting interesting as the second half of the schedule continues to unfold.

Of course, every game is a divisional matchup, and rivalries are hard-fought night in and night out. There are always marquee games on tap each evening, and the slate should make for plenty of quality hockey for fans to take in.

The slate of NHL games today is pretty hefty for a Thursday, with 18 teams hitting the ice in nine games. Naturally, because this is the National Hockey League, six of the matchups will all see the puck drop at the same time (7 PM EST).

Among the contests we’re keeping an eye on, the Pittsburgh Penguins (23-11-2) facing the Boston Bruins (18-9-5). It might come as a surprise that the Bruins (-130) are favored, but Pittsburgh goalie Tristan Jarry is out of action. In his absence, Casey DeSmith (1.91 GAA and .929 SV%) steps in between the pipes.

It’s going to be quite the 7 PM slate for potential playoff matchups. The Washington Capitals (23-8-4) face the New York Islanders (22-10-4). Both teams enter with a losing streak, but Washington has been hotter in the past two weeks. If the Islanders can secure a victory at home (13-1-2), they would pull into a tie in the East.

Let’s dive into the remaining schedule for NHL games today.
